Plans for a new 240-tent campsite have been submitted, with the site planned to be available annually for the TT and MGP.

The application (20/00385/B) by JM Management Limited is for 220 tents and 20 ’glamping’ tents to be erected during race periods on Old Church Road, Crosby.

As well as the 240 tents, the site plan includes shower and toilet units, staff/visitor parking and spaces for glamping pods, with guests in the other tents required to park their bikes next to their accommodation.

The staff and visitor parking provisions, for six vehicles, is limited because of the close proximity to the home of the owners and operators of the site.

In total, the site would stretch across, at least part of, three fields and part of the garden at Close Jairg Beg, which already provides tourist accommodation. Access to the site, which is adjacent to the heritage trail, would be maintained via the existing entrance on Old Church Road, with a stone road laid throughout the site.

During bad weather, the application states that ’heavy duty rubber grass mats’ would be laid to allow access to vehicles and pedestrians.

The site would be open 24 hours a day during the two festivals, with site security provided by external consultants.

As no motor homes will be on the site, no electricity hook up points are provided.
