An application from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture would see alterations and improvements made to Laxey’s Glen Gardens.

The application (20/01102/B) includes the installation of a replacement footbridge, resurfacing of the car park and relocation of a children’s play area. The ground would be covered with loose file bark.

Garff Commissioners told planners they would not be raising any objections. Mmbers went so far as giving installing the proposed play area, additional landscaping and new access over the river their full support.

The replacement bridge, which will be fully accessible, is shown as being designed in an L-shape to allow access to the park over the Glenroy River from the car park, which is also due to be resurfaced as part of the plans.

Plans for the park show the proposed new playground will predominantly be constructed of wooden materials.

The department has said it intends to instal a double cradle swing, two forest bug and bee springers, a seesaw for four people, a climbing frame for Parkour, a ’Wizard’s double fortress’, double flat swing, a pendulum swing, a carousel and a ’supernova’.
