Planning permission has been applied for (21/00573/C) to use the Street Kitchen restaurant premises, at 5 Prospect Hill in Douglas, as a public house.

The public house would be operated by a separate business, sharing the cafe’s premises and operating outside of its opening hours.

The licensed premises’ operating hours would be from 5pm to 11pm on Thursday, 5pm to 1am on Friday, 12pm to 1am on Saturday, and 12pm to 8pm on Sunday. Those behind the application say that the premises could host a capacity of 45 people.

The move comes at a time when far more pubs are closing then opening in the island.

The application for additional use was made by Douglas-based company DEBS Ltd, the tenants of the site.

The existing restaurant, which offers Asian cuisine, opened in November last year.
