Dandara is holding a public consultation to discuss plans for new housing in Ballasalla.
The event, which will take place on Monday, February 26 at Malew commissioners’ office, will provide an insight into designs for the proposed development, with a focus on the first of the three phases planned.
The proposed site is between Douglas Road and Balthane Industrial Estate with plans included a mix of two, three and four bed houses.
Also included in the plans are proposals for the often talk about, though never delivered Ballasalla by–pass, which will go around the main development with a bridge being built over the steam train line.
Dandara Managing Director Seamus Nugent said: ‘This is a very exciting development for the south of the Island. Our proposal addresses the shortage of new homes in the south east.
‘It will deliver more than 130 quality homes in a desirable residential environment, encompassing plenty of open space and views towards the sea.
‘Traffic congestion in the area is known to be particularly bad during peak times and the introduction of the by-pass will greatly alleviate that problem for current and future residents.’
Dandara architect Sue Cannell and Planning Director David Humphrey will attend the consultation to answer any questions.
Following the consultation, Dandara will look at any potential changes to the design before submitting a planning application.
The company hope the first phase of homes at the new Ballasalla housing development will be available for purchase in the Autumn.
The event at Malew commissioners is from 3pm until 8pm.
