Manx culture was represented at the weekend’s London Podcast Festival, which celebrates podcasts from around the world.
The festivals gave creators a chance to perform - and record - episodes of their shows live in front of an audience.
Michael Moorcroft attended the festival with his podcast ’The Mage’s Well’ which focuses on ’all things witchcraft and spirituality.’
Mr Moorcroft, aged 28, is originally from Ramsey, but now lives in London.
He launched the podcast early last year, after he took up an interest in witchcraft, to provide ’guidance to those on their journey within witchcraft and spirituality.’
He said: ’I saw a huge gap in the market and wanted to fill that.
At the festival, Mr Moorcroft collaborated with ’Honey and the Hex’ - also known as sisters Tansie and Tatum Swithenbank - who explore the origins of English and Scottish folklore through a progressive lens.
He was invited to talk about classic fairy tales from the Isle of Man, such as the myths of the Buggane, the Moddey Dhoo and Manannan, as well as some lesser known ones - with some sound and lighting trickery to punctuate the Buggane tale for good measure.
He said: ’That went down really well with the audience, they were scared and then they started laughing.
’It was quite sudden, I wanted them to jump out of their seats a little bit. I tried to make it as immersive as possible.’
The show received rave reviews from those who watched it live.
In response to non-believers who would approach his subject matter with mirth, he had a simple response.
He said: ’If I can have a person listen to this who doesn’t believe in spirituality, who doesn’t have a spiritual bone in their body - which I don’t necessarily believe, I think everyone is spiritual to some extent - [I hope I can make them think] "you know what, there could be something to this".
’I’ve always got that in the back of my mind when I’m producing my shows, when I’m doing the research, when I’m picking the topics I want to cover.
’I’m on a little bit of a conversion mission you could say.’
The audio from the show will be available on all major streaming platforms soon, as separate episodes for each podcast.
