The Manx MSA Trust’s second annual poker tournament raised £4,100.

More than 50 players took part in the event at the Palace Hotel in Douglas.

After five hours of play, Mark Handley emerged as the outright winner, bagging the first prize of a MacBook and a bottle of Krug Champagne, donated by PokerStars .

The Manx MSA Trust thanked PokerStars Helping Hands, the Palace Hotel and Casino and their staff and all those who sponsored the prizes on the night.

Eighth place Dylan Coady donated his prize to the charity. It will be used for the charity’s summer ball on July 1.

The Manx MSA Trust was formed by Chris Blake in 2015 when he was diagnosed with MSA after five years of NHS investigations.

Multiple System Atrophy is a degenerative neurological disease that affects adults.

It is caused by atrophy or shrinking of nerve cells in several (or multiple) areas of the brain which can result in problems with multiple bodily functions such as speech, movement, balance and blood pressure control.

The charity’s goal is to raise awareness of the disease, to raise funds towards research into early diagnosis and support those individuals have MSA.
