Police in the south of the island say that between Ballakillowey and South Barrule Plantation the Sloc Road is closed.

The Southern Neighbourhood team are reporting that 'quite a lot of drivers yesterday weren’t too sure what ’’closed’’ meant'.

A spokesman on the team’s Facebook page adds: 'They fully understand now and walked away with a white bit of paper.

'We don’t want to ruin your fun but drivers were getting stuck and going over the edge which meant they had to be rescued. Please take care today on the roads and don’t drive unless you really need to. Tea and mince pies are the order of today.’
