The auction of a white Manx police helmet raised £1,300 on Wednesday night.

The sale was a highlight of the Moddey Dhoo Motor Cycle Club’s annual Denis Barlow memorial rock * roll night at the Manx Legion Club on Wednesday.

Chief Constable Gary Roberts donated the helmet, which during the year had been signed by many TT and Southern 100 competitors.

The new owner of the headwear is a man from the south west of England who was visiting the island for the Manx Grand Prix.

The money raised for the helmet plus a raffle will be handed over to the Southern 100 Supporters’ Club, which provides safety equipment for the three road races held on the Colas Billown Course annually and assists injured riders and their families.
