The future of tennis courts in Douglas has been secured until at least 2030.

Kensington Road Sports Ground has agreed an amendment to a lease with Douglas Council. Under the new terms, the lease on the site will be extended from seven to 15 years on the condition a new artificial tennis surface is installed by August 2022.

Failure to renew the surface would result in the lease reverting to ’its original seven-year term’.

The lease on the site will now continue through to August 2030.

The proposal, from the executive committee of the council, was accepted unanimously by councillors at last week’s full meeting.
