John Quinn QC will remain in his post of Attorney General for a further two years after delaying his retirement.
Mr Quinn was appointed in 2017 having been acting AG since 2013 when Stephen Harding resigned.
The Attorney General’s role is to offer guidance on matters of law and issues relating to the island’s domestic and external interests and is a non-voting member of the Legislative Council.
And he is also responsible for representing the Crown in the prosecution of offences and for the drafting of Government legislation.
Mr Quinn said: ’It is a great honour and privilege to serve as HM Attorney General in the Isle of Man and I am delighted that Her Majesty The Queen has approved my request to continue in post for a further two and a half years.’
Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney said: ’John Quinn is a public servant of the highest calibre and the extension of his service ensures the island will continue to benefit from his ability and experience.’
