We will have to wait to find out whether MHKs will accept changes to the Communications Bill made by the Legislative Council.
A clerical error resulted in incorrect wording appearing on the agenda for Tuesday’s House of Keys sitting, so consideration of the bill was postponed until June 25.
Although the House of Keys had already passed the legislation, which governs telecommunications and broadcasting, the upper chamber made significant amendments.
These included that the chairman of the Communications Commission should be a non-political appointment, and a broadening of the definition of public service broadcasting so that it could apply to more media than just Manx Radio.
On recent occasions when MLCs - who are unelected but are appointed by the MHKs themselves - have made significant policy alterations to what the House of Keys has previously agreed, many MHKs have expressed their concern.
