The House of Keys has blocked a bid to call for the reinstating of the June 12, Senior Race Day, bank holiday.

Clare Barber (Douglas East) had sought support for her motion after the bank holiday was axed and moved to August 28.

However, along with the Council of Ministers block vote, several MHKs also refused to support her, with Mrs Barber’s motion failing 9-14.

The Legislative Council voted to support her 5-4 but with the branches in disagreement, her motion was rejected.
