Unemployment has fallen again.
The number registered out of work dropped by 27 to stand at 770 at the end of November.
That’s 433 higher than it was in the same month last year.
Unemployment peaked at 1,347 in April following the Covid outbreak but has fallen each month ever since.
The unemployment rate - the proportion of the economically active population registered out of work, was 1.8% last month, down from 1.9% in October.
Some 659 job vacancies were notified to the Job Centre during November and at the end of the month,458 remained. Of these, 56% (255) were full-time positions and 44% (203) part-time.
A total of 63% (486) of those unemployed were men and 37% (284) were women.
International Labour Organisation estimates, which include those looking for work but not registered unemployed, put the jobless figure at 1,215, down from 1,242 in October. This amounts to an unemployment rate of 2.8%.
Sectors with the highest number of unemployed are catering, retail distribution, unskilled construction, tourist accommodation and financial institutions.
