Onchan MHK Rob Callister has changed the format of his next monthly constituency surgery, which will be held at the Onchan Community Hub on School Road this weekend.

Instead of his usual political surgery, there will now be an informal drop in session between 9.30am and 12.30pm on Saturday, September 8, for any Onchan ratepayers to call in and to ask questions on the draft Eastern Area Plan or any particular site in Onchan or the surrounding area.

Mr Callister said: ’Copies of the Onchan site Reports and maps etc will be available for discussion and, although the public consultation closed on August 21, it is still vitally important that Onchan ratepayers continue to ask questions or make their views known ahead of a public inquiry, which will be held in 2019.’

The draft Eastern Area Plan outlines proposals for an additional 2,400 to be built in the east of the island before 2026, with potentially around 400 to 500 dwellings being built in Onchan.

Mr Calliser outlined some of his concerns in the Isle of Man Examiner this week.
