Garff MHK Martyn Perkins wants to keep his seat.

He says his priorities will be the economy, the health service, education and housing.

First elected to the Keys in 2016, he is currently the chairman of the Office of Fair Trading and the planning committee.

He moved to the island in 1980 and ran an aerospace precision engineering company until he was elected to the Keys.

Mr Perkins introduced two private member’s bills. The Human Tissue and Organ Donor Bill and also the bill banning the sale and release of sky lanterns and also the release of Helium Balloons.

More recently he put a motion before Tynwald to invite the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association to send an election observers mission to monitor this September’s general election.

The other sitting member for Garff, Daphne Caine, has also announced she is standing.

Their rivals are Jamie Smith, a former chairman of Garff Commissioners, and school teacher Gareth Young.
