It’s Tynwald Fair Day this week.
As well as being the day on which the laws are promulgated from Tynwald Hill in St John’s, it’s the day on which Manx people have the right to present a petition for redress of grievance.
It’s a chance to ask politicians to take up a cause for them.
Occasionally, the law will be changed after a petition is presented.

Operating the Isle of Man’s Liverpool ferry terminal costs more than £710,000 a yearPresenting a petition is a good way of getting an issue into the public spotlight.
Isle of Man Newspapers covers these petitions. There’s no better way of getting information about such causes into the public domain than in our papers.
And it helps us to provide better and more comprehensive coverage if petitioners tell us about them first.
If you are planning to petition Tynwald, please email [email protected] with details (including your phone number) or ring our reporters on 695697.
We’ll ring you right back.
