Prime Minister Boris Johnson has ordered British citizens to stay at home as the country continues to fight the spread of the coronavirus.

Except for a few specific reasons, British citizens must remain at home and the police have been ordered to use powers to enforce this is necessary.

Mr Johnson said Covid-19 is the ’biggest threat the country has ever faced’ and that without a ’national huge effort’ the NHS will not cope.

Residents will only be allowed to leave their homes for the following reasons:

â?¢ Shopping for basic necessities

â?¢ One form of exercise per day, either alone or with members of their household

â?¢ A medical need including providing care to an elderly or vulnerable person

â?¢ Travel to and from work, but only when absolutely necessary

Mr Johnson said that residents of the UK ’should not meet friend or family’ if they do not live with them.

To ensure Brits follow these instructions, all shops, except for those selling basic necessities will be closed.

All social events and acts of worship, with the exception of funerals, have been banned.

Mr Johnson said he had taken action that ’no Prime Minister wants to take’ but that there is ’no easy way forward’.

It is important to stress, the Isle of Man is not part of this and has not introduced these measures. The next update from the Manx government is scheduled for 4pm Tuesday.
