Two sick dogs being treated in the UK have now returned home.

Animal rescue, sanctuary and rehabilitation charity, Aid Rescue Isle of Man, travelled to Chester to pick up dogs being treated at ChesterGates, a veterinary referral hospital situated just north of Chester.

The charity, which was launched in 2012, often travels to the UK to take sick dogs to the veterinary hospital, in cases where the owner can’t afford the travel and accommodation costs.

It assists in finding temporary foster families for the pups in North West England, who can take them to and from hospital visits.

In some cases, Aid Rescue also assists with vet bills.

The Steam Packet provided free of charge travel for the charity.

Anita Williams from Aid Rescue said: ’Dogs on the Isle of Man often get referred to ChesterGates to receive specialist veterinary care, however owners sometimes can’t afford the travel, accommodation and veterinary costs involved.

’That’s where we step in, undertaking regular trips to the UK to transport poorly dogs and ensure they get the care they need.

’Dogs play such a special role in a family and owners only want the highest quality care for them, so we always do what we can to put them at ease and make the process as simple and straightforward as possible.

’We hope the dogs recover quickly now they are back home, I’m sure they’ll return to their energetic selves before too long!
