A popular bridge used by walkers to get along the coastal path to Bradda Glen and tourist attraction Milner’s Tower in the south of the island has been closed, apparently for safety reasons.

A sign on the so-called Tony Wright Bridge, on Spaldrick footpath, informs people: ’Danger Keep Out.’

Walkers using the coastal footpath from Port Erin are faced with a sign near the former open air pool declaring: ’Footpath Closed’. It is signed by J. Roberts, clerk to Port Erin Commissioners.

One dog walker faced with a longer route to Bradda quipped: ’Maybe the authorities are trying to get us fitter.’
