Filbey’s Little Food Shack has thanked customers for their support as the popular Isle of Man food business brings its five-year journey to an end.
In an emotional statement, the team said they were leaving with ‘full hearts, wonderful memories and an enormous amount of gratitude’ after serving customers at events and festivals around the Island.
The business, run by Jess, Del and Scott, announced in September that it would close towards the end of the year, citing rising costs, VAT and the increasing time and energy required to keep it sustainable.
Its latest statement marks the end of the journey, reflecting on the challenges and achievements of running the business over the past five years.
‘And just like that… our Little Food Shack adventure has come to an end,’ the team said.
They added: ‘Five years ago, we took a chance on an idea, not really knowing where it would take us.’
The team described a journey filled with ‘incredible experiences, unforgettable memories, plenty of challenges, a lot of hard work and even more laughter’.
They thanked everyone who had worked with them, recommended the business, queued for its food or simply stopped by for a chat.
The owners also paid tribute to those who supported their final pop-up events, saying customers had given them “the most wonderful send-off”.
Filbey’s previously operated as a restaurant next to The Creek Inn on Peel’s East Quay before moving into the food truck business.
In September, the owners said there had not been one single reason behind the closure, but a combination of rising prices and the growing demands of running the business.
They had also explained that the move into a food truck was initially intended to give them more time with their families, but the need to attend more events had made that increasingly difficult.
Despite the closure, the team previously said they would love to remain in the hospitality industry, although they were unsure what would come next.
Reflecting on the end of the business, they said: ‘Five years. Countless memories. One incredible adventure.’
