Students who were taught the wrong syllabus for their IGCSE exam have received some good news.

An email sent by Castle Rushen High School head teacher Keith Winstaney to parents of the students says the exam board Cambridge International will make allowances for the school’s mistake.

The email, shown to Isle of Man Newspapers by parents from the school said: ‘Cambridge International have confirmed that they will assess our students based only on poetry and prose (component 1) and coursework (component 5).

The drama (component 3) paper which they sat on May 25, where we had taught an our of date text will play no part in their grade.’

Teachers at the school has taught the pupils ‘An Inspector Calls’ by J.B. Priestley, however this text was no longer on the syllabus.

An investigation into how the mistake happened is continuing.

One parent said they are ‘pleased’ with the outcome.
