It’s going to get a bit colder, weather forecasters say.

The Met Office’s forecast:

Boxing Day will be bright with sunny spells and some passing wintry showers which will become isolated this afternoon. A fresh westerly wind which will turn to the north and ease a little this afternoon, with highest temperature around 6°C.

This evening and tonight will be dry with clear spells and a mainly moderate northerly wind, which will gradually freshen overnight. Temperatures falling to around 2 or 3°C in general, but close to freezing over the hills with a risk of ice.

A few wintry showers will continue to affect the island at times tomorrow, but with bright and sunny spells in-between. Breezy with a fresh to strong north to northwest wind and top temperature around 5 or 6°C once more.

Thursday will be dry with some sunshine, which will turn hazy later in the day as cloud moves in, bringing outbreaks of rain overnight. Temperatures reaching up to 6 or possibly 7°C at best, in the mainly moderate west to northwest wind.
