Postal services have been hit by the wintry conditions

Isle of Man Post says it has been unable to collect incoming mail.

And the snow is affecting deliveries - although posties will try to deliver items where it is safe to do so.

Some post offices are also affected.Onchan, Laxey and Windsor Road Post Offices have closed for the day.Douglas Post Office will close at 2.30pm.Customers are advised to call ahead to check if opening times have changed.

Anyone collecting allowances should do so from the Strand Street post office.Treasury has announced that due to the deteriorating weather conditions Social Security emergency payments will be produced at 1pm this afternoon – two hours earlier than usual.If you have a need for an emergency payment this must be authorised by 1pm in the usual manner. Unfortunately Treasury will be unable to consider any later applications.Emergency MiCard payments will be available for collection from 1.45pm from Douglas Post Office which will remain open until 2.30pm only.
