The organisers believe this year’s Primestock Show was a fantastic success.

The annual event is organised jointly by the Southern District and Royal Manx Agricultural Societies with support from producers, and everyone involved in the industry.

Knockaloe Mart was packed out as people watched a competition with some outstanding livestock.

Judges Ian Bell and Rebecca Dickens had travelled from Cumbria to judge the cattle, lambs and young handlers,

Organisers said that both did a fantastic job picking the winners from very close classes.

Mr Bell and Miss Dickens selected Ashley, Sandra and Michael Kinvig’s Limousin heifer as a deserved champion, with another exceptional exhibit from Trevor Quirk as reserve.

Sarah Kewley took the top prizes for lambs with a fine pair of Beltex X lambs taking the championship award with another pair of Texel X from Sarah taking reserve.

Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer and Lady Lorimer attended to give support to the industry and presented the main awards.

Young handlers did a great job, with Fergus Quayle winning on the night showing excellent skills, with his cousin Faye Qualtrough taking well-earned reserve and Archie Caley second reserve.

The Young Farmers had a huge number of members taking part in the stock judging competition, showing some significant skills. Paula Kelly judged.

The organisers thanked Peter Quayle for commentary and the many volunteer stewards. Thanks also to Brenda Skillicorn and team for the food, and Central Marts for hosting.
