These are the latest wacky character bales to have been turning heads and raising a smile at Cross Four Ways.

The purple bale emojis have been set up at home in a field at Billown Farm.

They are the creation of farmer Eric Taggart and his family.

Purple bales have been popped up in fields across Britain, all in aid of the WellChild charity which provides essential support for seriously ill children as well as their families. Last year, a Minion, Peppa Pig and other cartoon faces all appeared at Billown Farm, with a message urging people to use Manx food in support of the island’s agricultural industry.

They also helped raise money for the Manx Association for the Welfare of Children in Hospital, with visitors invited to leave a donation in a milk keg.

The previous year saw a line-up of Minions along with Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc, Frankenstein’s monster and the Angry Bird video game characters.

Those colourful bales have already raised more than £3,000 to help the Special Care Baby Unit and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
