Students from Queen Elizabeth II High School put the fruits of their year’s work on display.

More than 45 students from the Peel school who have studied design and technology exhibited their creations at both GCSE and A-level, along with those studying art, displayed their finished pieces at the school last week.

Students on the design and technology course studied working with resistant materials, fashion and textiles, graphic communication and electronic design at GCSE level, and product design for their A-levels.

The art students used mixed media and materials, and exhibited a wide variety of finished pieces, from paintings and sketches through to ceramic works and textiles.

Vici Blackburn, head of art, said that she was impressed with the attitude of the students, and felt that they had reasons to feel proud of their work. I thought the standard was excellent this year, and I was very pleased with the overall standard of the work produced,’ said Vici.

’The students worked exceptionally hard throughout the year and they have produced exceptional results, I think. It shows the wide range of explorations that the students have become involved in through their year’s work.

’It was also very exciting to see that they were not afraid to take a lot of risks with their art work.

’I also want to celebrate the fact that there were some very individual and independent responses to the challenges they met. It was brilliant to see them achieve so much this year.’
