A quiz organised by Castletown Ale Drinkers’ Society raised £1,178 for local charities.
A record number of 27 teams of eight people answered questions from Eric Clague at the event, which was held at Castle Rushen High School.
The winners were Bill Denard’s consistent ’Crash V’ team who have now won the event 13 times, the last one being two years ago.
Only three points separated the top three places and after holding second place throughout the four rounds Graham Ashley’s ’Aye up, it’s Popman’ finished second and just one point behind them were ’The Golfers'.
The annual quiz first took place in 1983 and the total raised over the years is £22,322.
The Castletown Ale Drinkers’ Society thanked everyone who contributed to evening and hope that they are all available again for the 2021 event, which is provisionally set for Friday, November 12.
