After such a warm and dry September, it was payback in October with plenty of rain.
The latest statistics from the Met Office at the airport show that the total rainfall over the month at Ronaldsway amounted to 186.6mm.
This is almost double the October average, making it the third wettest on record behind 2002 and 2014.
The last week of the month was particularly wet, the worst day being Ocotber 29 when 39.1mm was recorded in the gauge.
Temperatures were more than a degree above the 1991 to 2020 average; the 24-hour mean being 12.8°C.
This made October the sixth warmest on record and the warmest since 2006. The best day was the eighth, when a temperature of 17°C was achieved at Ronaldsway.
Sunshine totalled 108.6 hours, which despite all the rain, is actually close to average.
The sunniest day was October 1 when 9.5 hours was recorded.
Wind speeds were also close to average, with a mean across the month of 13.9 knots.
The strongest gust was 43 knots (49mph) on October 24.
There was fog on the 18th and 19th, but no hail or thunder recorded at the Met Office during the month.
