Ramsey is preparing to celebrate National Week with a huge list of events.

On Saturday, July 1, Hospice Isle of Man is organising a lively and colourful ’Bubble Rush’ at the Mooragh Park.

Sunday will see a packed day, with the Manx Swimming Open, followed by a One Wo/Man musical show, both held at the Mooragh Park.

Elsewhere, there will be a garden party at the Grove Museum, featuring traditional music and dancing, garden games, face painting, and performances from the Labyrinth History in Action Players from 10am.

Blue Badge Guide Marinda Fargher will lead a walk on the Monday, starting from Ramsey Town Hall, from 10am, and on Tuesday, July 4, there will be the chance to take part in the popular Hike and Hotdogs walk to Albert Tower, departing the former Albert Road School site from 7pm.

On Thursday, July 6, there will be music entertainment outside the courthouse, with the Cummal Mooar Singing for the Brain choir from 2pm and Chadsgrove Buskers from Chadsgrove Special School, Bromsgrove from 2.30pm.

A ’Summer concert’, held in St Paul’s Church, from 7pm, will feature musicians Graham Crowe, Jayne Mayne, Martin Norbury, John Riley and Dilys Sowrey.

Saturday, July 8, will have many of the island’s brass bands take part in a ’Brassed Off’ competition from 1pm, an RNLI open day featuring displays by Douglas and Ramsey Lifeboat crews and a show by the infamous Purple Helmets from 7pm, in the Market Square.

The action will be capped off with a Sunday fun day in Mooragh Park, hosted by Ramsey Rotary Club.

Ramsey Town Commissioners’ chairman Andy Cowie said: ’Ramsey has long had a tradition of offering a wide range of events for all the family thanks to the town’s enduring community spirit and the setting of Mooragh Park and the Courthouse Gardens.

’These two landmark sites provide the perfect backdrop for showcasing local talent, welcoming visiting performers and hosting some of the island’s most popular sporting and community events, many of which help to raise funds for charity and transform people’s lives.’
