A Wheel & Walk fundraiser for the MS Society on Saturday, May 4, was a huge success with young, old and even a dog taking part.
The beauty of this event, which involves doing circuits of the cycle track at the NSC, is all can take part including those affected by the neurological disease.
Organiser Derek Patience, who is chairman of the society in the island, said: ’Wow. Fantastic turn out on a super day for the MS Wheel & Walk.
’If my counting is correct, we had a whopping 110 people taking part (up from 95 last year), plus one dog.
’It was lovely to see the tremendous support from family and friends and great to see so many kids out there on their scooters, waving their flags and their balloons.
’Our youngest participant was only six months old, whilst one of our oldest was the sprightly 70-plus Bill Hastings and there was a lady in her 80s.’
He thanked everyone who took part or who helped to make the day such a success and said: ’The MS community greatly appreciates your support.’
Sponsorship cheques can be mailed to Derek Patience, 3 Cronk Drean, Douglas, IM2 6AY. And you can donate at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ms-society-isle-of-man-group
