Choral groups and singers from across the UK gave uplifting performances as part of the Isle of Man Festival of Choirs.

Choirs gave it their all over the three-day festival held at the Villa Marina in Douglas, with a variety of songs being sung from artists John Rutter, Coldplay and more.

The show saw the appearance of the Britain’s Got Talent gospel choir EAGA from Leicester, which shook the foundations of the building.

The sheer talent that was heard from all choirs made it a tough job for adjudicator Steve Roberts to share the verdict. He confessed to being nervous as he made his way to the stage.

In the end Haydock Male Voice Choir was announced as this year’s winner with their popular 25 minute performance, finished off with ’We Rise Again’ by Leon Dubinsky.

Festival director Geoff Corkish said: ’This has been a remarkable, stunning weekend. The standard of singing was incredible, and it’s a great reflection on how the name of the Isle of Man Festival of Choirs is now so highly regarded around the British Isles.

’We have seen some truly fantastic performances, met some wonderful people and we’ve already had confirmation from some of the choirs that they want to come back again for the next festival.

’It was an absolutely fabulous weekend.’

The Isle of Man Festival of Choirs returns again in October 2021.
