Taylorian Productions has exploded back onto the stage with a show so expertly crafted it wouldn’t look out of place in the West End.

With an astounding cast led by the enormous talent of Laura Pigott providing a ’Truly Scrumptious’ performance alongside Tom Dickerson’s equally magnificent Caractacus Potts, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang really is 2018’s must-see show.

Their performances are equalled by Daisy Divers and Harriet Shooter (Jemima) and William Shooter and Leo Dixon (Jeremy) who all have a presence and calmness on the stage well beyond their years.

As the show kicks into gear, Dickerson, Divers and Shooter’s rendition of ’You Two’ sets an early high standard the show never looks back from as it builds and builds throughout.

Joining the family is Paul Sellors as Grandpa, whose understated charm carries throughout in a strong performance.

As the show progresses, the audience meets Boris and Goran, the ’super spies’ who are portrayed in a unique, colourful and humorous fashion by Ben Karran and Andrew Halstein, who threaten to steal every scene in which they appear.

The spies find themselves in the employ of Chris Caine’s delightfully dim-witted, teddy bear hugging Baron and Lisa Kreisky’s alluring, domineering and at times hilarious Baroness.

While Ben Heath’s emotionally-charged performance as the toy maker is reminiscent of Benny Hill’s in the original 1968 film.

Last, but certainly not least, of the main cast, Mark Dougherty takes on one of the most iconic roles in history as he delivers an eery, creepy and chillingly magnificent portrayal of the Child Catcher.

As the for show itself, the choreography is delightful, the split second timing during ’Me Ol’ Bamboo’ is astounding and Pigott’s control and skill during ’Doll on a Music Box’ is mesmerising.

While the high speed, energetic and eye-popping ’Bombie Samba’ will leave you astounded, delighted and exhausted in equal measure.

The music is, as ever provided masterfully by the live band, led by conductor and West End musical director Kelvin Towse.

The elephant in the room, is of course the flying car, which without giving anything away, will see cast members lifted up above the stage.

Under the watchful eye of director and choreographer Chris Cuming has in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has added to Taylorian Productions record of amazing shows which have captivated the imagination of the Manx public.

I, for one, already can’t wait to see what the group deliver next.
