Tickets have gone on sale for the chance to see the return of one of the UK’s top comedians.

Welsh stand-up funnyman Rhod Gilbert is heading to the island for a concert, appearing at the Villa Marina on Friday, April 3, 2020.

He is currently touring the British Isles with his latest show, the Book of John, and demand for his show has been such that he has extended the tour well in next year.

This will be Rhod’s first show on the island in 10 years, following his sold out show at the same venue in November, 2010.

The comedian has been away from the stand-up circuit and from the public eye for more than six years, a time in which the much-loved TV and radio personality has faced a series of personal struggles, including suffering a stroke, grieving over the death of his mother and struggling with the discovery that he was infertile.

In the Book of John, Rhod meets all these subjects head-on in a show that has been described as ’raw, personal and brutally honest’, but sees Rhod as funny as ever, and in top form.

Before Rhod took time away from his successful career, he was a regular face on many of the top comedy shows on both radio and television, including ’Have I Got News for You’, ’Eight out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’ and ’Mock The Week’.

Tickets are £28.50, available from the Welcome Centre and the Villa Marina box office, on 600555, and online from villagaiety.com
