Long-awaited roadworks on one of Ramsey’s main arterial routes will start straight after TT and finish in time for the Festival of Motorcycling 2018.

The scheme, which involves resurfacing of the whole length of Lezayre Road, will begin on Monday, June 11, and be completed no later than August 10.

It will necessitate the closure of the junction at Lezayre Road, Bircham Avenue and Fairfield Avenue. Access will be maintained to Fairfield Avenue.

Motorists travelling west from Ramsey will be diverted via Jurby Road and St Jude’s Road, with local traffic able to use the access gate between Greenlands Avenue and Poyll Dooey Road.

Work will be carried out by a contractor for the Department of Infrastructure.

The DoI is liaising with households and businesses to advise them of how the works may affect them.

School and service buses which normally serve Ramsey Grammar School East at the beginning and end of the school day will drop-off and pick-up at Station Road (Shoprite) car park. This will require the temporary suspension of around 10 parking spaces.

The phasing of the traffic lights in Parliament Square will be adjusted to help with the traffic flow.
