The Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann is awarding young people for showing acts of good citizenship and helping others.

The awards go to pupils who in the view of their teachers have been exceptionally good citizens by putting others before themselves, caring for others, working hard and being courteous.

As such, the Rotary Stars Award offers an opportunity to recognise those who make a valuable positive contribution to their classmates and family.

It encourages people to think more about how they can help others in their community.

Eleven primary schools in the west and south of the island have already nominated up to 10 children each and club president Roger Barrs and members will present the awards at a special assembly.

Vicarage Road School, Castletown, has already received star certificates, badges and £10 book tokens.
