The Royal Manx Agricultural Show was hit by the weather which forced the cancellation of Friday’s proceedings but the show went ahead on Saturday and many visitors braved the mud to attend.
Crganisers of the show, a highlight of the island’s summer calendar, took the decision to cancel Friday following torrential rain and strong winds early that morning.
Show president, Fiona Moore, said: ’It was a hard, hard decision but if we’d had Friday we wouldn’t have been able to have it today [Saturday].’
As it was the main pathways on the show field quickly became a bit of a mud bath but there were still lots of smiles.
Visitors were entertained by a line up which included Vander Space Wheel stunt act, Isle of Man Young Farmers’ first wheelbarrow race, and regular favourites like falconry.
Children marvelled at spells in the Harry Potter-themed Junior Achievement tent, met farm animals on the NFU stand, and got busy on wooden construction with Isle of Play.
Following the grand parade of winners Vicky Sloane-Masson with her Holstein cow, Cairbre Glauco Rolls, were awarded the Deemster Johnson Supreme Championship.
â?¢ The Food & Farming pages in Thursday’s Manx Independent will have a full list of results.
