This was the scene as flight into Ronaldsway were delayed while the runway was cleared of debris.
The incident happened on Friday night when a BA London City flight aborted its take-off.
Airport director Ann Reynolds said the pilot reported a problem with a compressor and when it had taxied back to the stand, a runway inspection was carried out to check for debris.
As a result, incoming aircraft had to circle before being given permission to land once the runway was clear.
Ms Reynolds said some small steel pins were found on the runway.
She said the incident caused delays for incoming aircraft for about 30 minutes.
