One of the island’s community brass bands will host a virtual concert next week, showing some of their highlights from the past few years.
Rushen Silver Band will make up for the lack of public performances by hosting a special night of free-to-view performances, compiled from videos of concerts from 2014 to the present day.
The concert will be broadcast via the band’s Facebook page on Monday from (April 27) from 7.45pm.
Many of the performances have never been broadcast before.
The concert will include a variety of pieces, filmed from different locations across the island, as well as some from the group’s appearances in Europe.
Tom Sinden, Rushen Silver Band committee member, said: ’We sat down and sourced videos from a range of concerts from 2014 to 2019, indoor and outdoor, including visits to the Lorient Festival in France and were able to put together a full virtual concert , with newly-crafted introductions to the various pieces, which we hope people will enjoy.
’We’re all looking forward to the band being able to rehearse and play out in the community again in the near future.’
Also included are performance from some of the 2019 concerts which celebrated the group’s 70th anniversary.
The band has been forced to cancel a number of concerts due to Covid restrictions.
