A group campaigning against the development of a marina on Ramsey’s south beach has reiterated its opposition after revised plans were published.

Last month Ramsey Marina Ltd changed the proposal to rotate the marina by 90 degrees and cut its size from 12 to seven hectares.

’It’s time that the Department of Infrastructure says "thanks but no thanks", the founder of Save the Bay, Geoff Court said.

’It’s a marine nature reserve. Nothing has changed, it’s a prized public beach and it’s time to draw a line in the sand.’

The group said the current north and west plan prohibits such a development.

Mr Court disputed Ramsey Marina Limited’s suggestion that the revised plan could benefit nature.

’They would have to dredge the entire area of the life that currently exists there in order to hopefully put in place a concrete breakwater to allow for the propogation of eelgrass and fish to breed.

’So they would need to remove all life in the area in the hope that it would one day return. I don’t think that’s a tenable proposition.’
