As 2019 marks Save the Children’s centenary year, the charity has launched an initiative to have 100 supporters raise £100 towards its cause.

The Douglas branch, which began the Centenary Challenge, is looking for 100 partners to take part in the project.

This will include island schools, companies, businesses, organisations and individuals raising or donating a minimum of £100 at any time during 2019.

Rosemary Walters of the charity said: ’The first amount of money that has already been donated was from Castle Rushen High School, which raised it through selling cakes.

’I’m hoping as the year goes on there will be events that encourage people to do it and we will get enough partners to take on the challenge.’
