Ramsey Commissioners’ tenants are being urged to seek help from town hall staff if they are worried about getting into rent arrears.
The lead member for housing, Luke Parker, said some tenants had suffered a loss of income due to coronavirus restrictions. He praised staff for taking the intiative in contacting people before they fell too far behind with their payments.
Finance officer Norman Cannell added that people facing difficulties should seek help and not bury their heads in the sand.
Chairman Andy Cowie said: ’It’s good to see the high level of engagement we have with our tenants continuing.’
On the subject of the town’s rate income, the lead member for finance, Juan McGuinness, said: ’Our rates will probably be in flux this year, but as it stands, unlike some other local authorities, we don’t have an immediate cash flow problem and that’s very positive for the future.’
