Children got to know a little bit more about life in the rock pools around the island, courtesy of a wildlife exploration session organised by Manx National Heritage.

Under the supervision of natural history curator Laura McCoy and educational officer Anthea Young, groups of families investigated the rocky coast line at Niarbyl bay at low tide, on Thursday afternoon, August 16, and searched through the rock pools and in amongst the seaweed for signs of aquatic life.

Searching throughout the afternoon, the potential marine biologists soon filled their buckets with a wide variety of small marine life, including many different species of crabs, shrimp, colourful star fish and periwinkles.
