A pilot who died in a plane crash near Dubai International Airport is to be remembered at a service this week.

William Blackburn, from Douglas, lost his life at the age of 26 when the crash happened on May 16 , claiming the lives of three others.

It is thought that turbulence created by another aircraft caused the Diamond DA42 four-seat aircraft to come down three miles away from the airport.

Mr Blackburn will be remembered during a service at St Peter’s Church in Onchan at 2.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday). His family have asked that donations in lieu of flowers should be sent to Dot’s Dream Foundation, 26 Princes Street, Douglas.
