The ongoing travel restrictions have caused the cancellation of a popular traditional folk festival.
The organisers of the Shennaghys Jiu festival have been forced to cancel the planned event for 2021.
The three-day event, which normally welcomes traditional folk acts from Scotland, Ireland and Wales, as well as Europe, was due to take place over Easter weekend. A statement on the event’s Facebook page said: ’We had hoped to be in a position to run a scaled back version of the festival this year with our super local artists and had already had two new exciting events lined up for the weekend.
’Although we’re disappointed, we are not deterred and are determined to make 2022 a truly fabulous festival based around friendships, families and community.’
