The Manx Acoustic Shooting Club has held its annual prize presentation and social evening at Manx Blind Welfare’s Corrin Court headquarters in Onchan.
Acoustic shooting is a British Blind Sport-recognised activity, which can be enjoyed by blind and visually impaired people.
Competitors use adapted rifles fitted with special sights, which measure the level of light reflected from the target and convert it into sound.
They wear headphones and the sound becomes more frequent the closer they are to the target.
Along with regular sessions, the club also holds an open competition each year. All competitors were presented with a certificate on the evening and the top three in each class were awarded individual medals.
The overall winner of the competition became the second recipient of the Peter Stone Memorial Shield.
Peter was one of the first shooters to attend the club and died three years ago, leading to his family and shooting club organisers dedicating an award in his memory.
This year’s winner - the highest scorer in Class A with 93 out of 100 - was Anne Boyes.
She was presented with the Memorial Shield by Peter’s father, Alan Stone.
George Collins was second in the class, followed by Bridget Lemoignan in third.
Jim Shimmin topped Class B, also with a score of 93 out of 100, followed by Ron Kellet in second - for the second year in a row - and Dorothy Wilson in third.
