Ramsey Commissioners have launched a public consultation on their by-laws covering the use of ’pleasure grounds’ and foreshores.

The Ramsey Town Amenity Byelaws 1998 are due to expire in January 2018.

Areas covered by the legislation include Mooragh Park, Coronation Park and other open public spaces under the authority’s control.

For instance, swimming is banned in Mooragh Park lake and the public and written permission would be required to take ’any horse, pony or donkey’ into any of the town’s pleasure grounds.

It is also in breach of the by-laws to remove sand, gravel or stone from the foreshore.

The commissioners want to know whether people think the by-laws - which can be viewed at ramsey.gov.im - need updating.

Members of the public wishing to contribute to the consultation can email [email protected], or in writing to the Deputy Town Clerk, Ramsey Town Hall, Parliament Square, Ramsey, IM8 1RT. Submissions must be received by noon on Friday, October 13.
