The weather forecast from the Met Office:
Scattered showers will affect the island today becoming frequent and heavy at times, particularly around the middle of the day. Breezy with a strong to near gale force west to south-westerly wind and highs of 7°C.
The showers will gradually die away this evening leaving the night dry with some clear spells. Minimum temperature near to 2°C for most places this evening, but close to freezing over the hills, before temperatures slowly recover later in the night.
Dry at first on Wednesday but quickly turning cloudy with outbreaks of rain arriving from mid-morning onward, often turning persistent and heavy. Temperatures reaching up to 9°C at best, in a strong to near gale force south to southwest wind.
Heavy rain at first on Thursday will clear towards midday, leaving the afternoon mostly dry with only isolated showers, as bright or sunny spells break through the cloud. The strong southwest wind will turn to the west as the rain clears, with a top temperature of 8°C during the morning, before falling by a few degrees into the afternoon.
