Helen Morrison is 27, and currently lives in Liverpool.

She was born in Douglas, and, after sitting her ’A’ levels, studied Popular Music at degree level at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.

During her time in Liverpool, she has since sung with two highly rated bands , The Wretched Pearls and her current group, The Baltic States, who return to the island to play at the Dark Horse festival next weekend.

What is your idea of a perfect meal?

One that never ends. I take eating very seriously.

What is your favourite way to relax?

I’d be lying if I said it didn’t involve a bottle of red wine and a bathtub.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I may have a few sports related gadgets, so it’d be a combination of my sports watch (which I LOVE and almost never take off) and my underwater iPod shuffle, from which Stephen Fry soothes me with his narration of Sherlock Holmes.

What is your greatest achievement?

I completed my degree in the face of a very painful bereavement.

What is your favourite time of the year?

Summer. The island flourishes in the summer time! The sun unleashes a world of colour, fauna, wildlife and warmth to explore. It is the time of barbecues, campfires and long walks. It’s magical.

What is the first job you ever had?

I was an appallingly incompetent retail assistant at Keigs Photography when I was 14. They didn’t fire me, but they didn’t ask me back.

Do you have any irrational fears?

I am afraid of the dark.

What is your worst habit?

I’m not sure it’s printable.

What is your favourite book?

The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy, by Douglas Adams

What is your favourite TV programme?

Game of Thrones. Power, sex and dragons. What’s not to love?

What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?

Radiohead will always own my heart.

What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?

There are many contenders such as Dhoon Glen, Peel Hill, Glen Maye, Groudle Glen, but I love the majesty of The Sound. We are SO lucky to live in such a phenomenally beautiful place.

What is the last show/band that you saw live?

A band called ’Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5’ at WillowFest. They were one of the best bands I have seen live. They filled the room with an uncontainable joy and had the hundreds of people in the tent dancing.

If time/money were no object, what would be your perfect day?

I would go for a swim/dive along the Great Barrier Reef in the early morning. Explore Glow Worm cave in New Zealand in the late morning. Sky dive over Aogashima Volcano in Japan in the afternoon. Run across the great wall of China. Stop in Venice for an evening meal and a few glasses of wine. Catch some live music in Berlin. Then Blue Point, on the Isle of Man, joined by people, campfires, stars and guitars.
