MP Associates Ltd have applied for planning permission (21/01468/B) to build six detached houses on Victoria Road, on land next to Shoprite and the St George’s AFC playing fields.

The site was home to a former Second World War air raid shelter, which was demolished in recent years as it was in a state of disrepair and a danger.

There would be two different house types, both of red-faced brick facades with natural slate roofs.

One type would be four-bedroom, with a kitchen/dining area, lounge and a study.

The other would be a three-storey with six bedrooms (three en-suite), ground floor kitchen, living and dining rooms, and a single garage.

Lime trees which were removed as part of a previous planning application will be replaced with five new maple trees.

An accompanying planning statement described the existing site as brownfield which was ’an eyesore’, and ’cannot be viewed as if it was part of what’s across the road.
