A visiting folk group have rescheduled their island concert after the adverse weather conditions forced them to cancel their Peel concert last weekend.

Alaw, the BBC folk awards- nominated group, found themselves trapped in South Wales by the heavy snowfall, freezing temperatures and traffic disruption, and were unable to travel to the Isle of Man for their concert at the Peel Centenary Centre, due to be held on Saturday, March 3.

Instead, they will now play at the Centenary Centre on Friday, April 20.

A statement from the Peel Centenary Centre said: ’Due to circumstances beyond the band’s control, we regret to announce that Alaw have had to reschedule for Friday April 20.

’Unfortunately, despite all attempts to get the band over, the current weather situation in the UK is making it impossible for the whole band to get to the island in time.

’All tickets purchased will be valid for the new date.

’The members of Alaw and the Peel Centenary Centre apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment that this may cause.’

The band, featuring Peel local man Jamie Smith, alongside guitarist Dylan Fowler and violinist Oli Wilson-Dickson, said they were ’gutted and really sorry for the inconvenience’, but were determined to honour the date.

Tickets are still available, priced £14, from Shakti Mann, Peter Norris Music, Celtic Gold,Thompson Travel, or online from etickets.im/cc
